Guest House in Lugo di Romagna
Four rooms, a country house, home cooking
Who the Mazapédar is, and why the house is named after him
The Mazapédar is a sprite from Romagna folklore: small, mischievous, with his red-and-yellow bowler hat — the colours of Romagna. Ca’ de Mazapédar means the house of the sprite, and he’s really there: he’s painted in the bathrooms, the lounge, the kitchen and the room hallway.
The Mazapédar who lives here is different from the legend: still mischievous, but he loves company. Our guest house has four rooms, and he wanders through all of them. Meet him →
Breakfast comes from the garden, dinner we roll by hand
Tart with plum jam or bitter orange marmalade, candied figs, Patricia’s plum cake and banana bread, seasonal cakes, eggs, freshly picked fruit. Breakfast is always included.
In the evening, on request, homemade tagliatelle and ragù simmered patiently, the old way. Full dinner €22-25 per person, wine included. Smaller portions for children, with the price agreed in advance. See the full breakfast and dinner menu.

The rooms are named after the trees growing right outside
Cotogno, Nespolo, Fico and Melograno aren’t names picked at a desk: they’re the forgotten fruits that grow in our garden — quince, medlar, fig, pomegranate. That’s what we use for the breakfast jams.
Alongside them grow wild pears, blackberries, yellow and purple plums, apples, the olive tree we get our brined olives from, and the vegetable garden with tomatoes, rocket and herbs.
