A country house, not a family hotel

Ca’ de Mazapédar means the house of the Mazapédar: the mischievous house-sprite of Romagna folklore, with his red-and-yellow cap — the colours of the Romagna flag. You’ll find him painted in the bathrooms, the dining room, the kitchen and the room hallway — and kids love hunting for him room by room.

The four rooms are named after the forgotten fruit trees that really do grow just outside: quince, medlar, fig, pomegranate. And the garden around them is where kids can spend the whole afternoon without having to go anywhere.

You won’t find a reception desk. You’ll find us — Patricia and Gian Claudio — around at any hour, for advice on where to go, to warm up a bottle, or just a chat after a day out.

Two quadruple rooms, and the afternoon fills itself

Fico and Melograno each have two real double beds (one is a sofa bed): a family of four sleeps here for real, no squeezing. They share two spacious bathrooms with Room Cotogno — we say this upfront, because it’s better to know it when booking. If you’d like an en-suite bathroom, there’s Room Nespolo. Taking more rooms gets you up to 12 beds, and the crib is free.

Outside and in the shared spaces: table tennis, foosball and darts, board games and a small library for adults and kids, sun loungers and hammocks in the shade, the barbecue and a kitchen you can use if you’d rather make something yourselves.

Breakfast and dinner — this is where it all comes together

Breakfast is made by hand every morning, and almost everything comes from the garden: tart with plum or bitter orange marmalade, caramelised figs, seasonal cakes, Patricia’s plum cake and banana bread, eggs, fresh fruit.

In the evening, by request, a full dinner for €25 per person: hand-pulled tagliatelle and ragù simmered patiently, the old way. Wine is extra. Smaller portions for children — just tell us and we’ll quote you beforehand.

With tired kids after a day out, it’s the difference between getting back in the car to find somewhere open and sitting straight down at the table.

Hours, parking and what's nearby

Check-in from 3pm to 9pm, check-out by 11am. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later, there’s a €25 supplement, but we’re flexible: tell us when you book and we’ll work something out. With kids, timing isn’t always your choice.

We’re 10 minutes from central Lugo (8 km) and 40 minutes from Ravenna. Parking is on-site, fenced and CCTV-monitored: unload prams, suitcases and car seats at your own pace.

The Al.Ba.Co. cycle route passes right by, flat and suitable even for younger riders, with covered bike storage. Mirabilandia is 55 minutes away. Local events and museums on the Bassa Romagna Mia portal.
