For four days in October, Bologna changes face: BolognaFiere fills up with cars and motorcycles that look like they drove out of a black-and-white film, and the streets around it fill with trailers, vans and collectors arriving from all over Europe.
We are about an hour away, in San Lorenzo di Lugo, in the countryside of the Bassa Romagna — close enough to reach the fair quickly, far enough to sleep without the traffic and without the inflated city prices of those days.
When Auto e Moto d’Epoca 2026 takes place
The show runs from 22 to 25 October 2026 at BolognaFiere: it is Europe’s largest classic vehicle exhibition, with hundreds of exhibitors across historic cars, vintage motorcycles and a very large spare parts market.

Why it pays to sleep outside Bologna
Four days of fair means city hotels full (or expensive) and traffic concentrated around BolognaFiere. From San Lorenzo di Lugo you reach the fair in about an hour, with the “Bologna Fiera” exit of the A14 motorway close at hand — and in the evening you drive back into the countryside, with no queues.
Anyone coming to buy or sell usually has a van or a trailer behind: here the parking is private and fenced, with room for at least three Ducato-sized vans. Not a small detail when the trailer is carrying a part worth more than the room.
Getting here from BolognaFiere
- By car: Bologna Fiera exit from the A14 motorway, or exits 7 and 8 from the ring road, then about an hour towards Lugo
- From central Bologna: about an hour
- By train: Lugo station (Bologna–Ravenna line), then a few kilometres
